Toronto Recap: Season 6 Gets Underway
Farrington and Sweetnam claimed the opening individual wins, while the Roadrunners made an early statement in the first Team Competition of Season 6.

Major League Show Jumping Season 6 began at Angelstone Events in Toronto, opening a new championship campaign with three nights of 5* Show Jumping.
With every rider and team starting from zero, the opening leg brought familiar rivalries, new combinations and an early look at how the Season 6 championship picture could unfold.

Thursday saw Kent Farrington set the early benchmark.Farrington and Descartes SR claimed the $250,000 5* Qualifier presented by BFL Canada, stopping the clock in 41.96 seconds to take the first 5* win of the new season.
The result continued Farrington’s strong record in Toronto, with the World No. 2 making back-to-back Qualifier victories after winning the same class during Season 5.
Daniel Bluman and Corbie V.V. finished second, while Nina Mallevaey and My Clementine completed the podium in third. The result also renewed the rivalry between Farrington and Bluman, who finished first and second in Thursday’s opening contest after battling closely throughout Season 5.

Friday brought the first team title of Season 6.The DIHP Roadrunners claimed the opening 5* Team Competition, defeating the Trelawny Trailblazers in the gold medal match.
Daniel Coyle secured the deciding result for the Roadrunners in his first MLSJ Team Competition appearance for the team, while Erynn Ballard and Shane Sweetnam helped complete a winning performance.
The Archers took bronze after defeating Team KPF, while defending Season 5 champions Maccabi United exited in Round 1 following a difficult opening to their title defence.
With the new Season 6 team competition points multiplier in play, the Roadrunners left Toronto with an early advantage in the championship standings.

Saturday closed the opening weekend with a new Grand Prix winner.Shane Sweetnam and Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z claimed the $500,000 5* Grand Prix presented by Kubota, producing the fastest clear in a three-horse jump-off to secure the first Grand Prix victory of Season 6.
Kent Farrington and Descartes SR finished second after a four-fault round in the jump-off, while Ilan Bluman and Acajou completed the podium.
For Sweetnam and Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z, the result marked an important milestone for a combination still early in its 5* Grand Prix career. For Farrington, it was a third consecutive runner-up finish in the Toronto Grand Prix.

Toronto opened the Season 6 championship with three very different results.
Farrington struck first in the Qualifier, the Roadrunners claimed the opening team title, and Sweetnam closed the weekend with the first Grand Prix win of the season.
With the first points now on the board, the championship battle moved on to Traverse City, Michigan, for Leg 2.
