World No. 2 Kent Farrington picks up where he left off as Major League Show Jumping returns to Toronto.
Major League Show Jumping commenced its sixth season in Toronto at Angelstone Events, featuring a $250,000 5* Qualifier presented by BFL Canada. The event drew 31 combinations competing on a 1.55-meter course designed by Olympic course designer Guilherme Jorge from Brazil.
The opening round proved challenging, with twelve combinations advancing to the jump-off after completing clear rounds. Kent Farrington of the United States, ranked World No. 2, secured victory with Descartes SR, a 9-year-old gelding, finishing in 41.96 seconds.
Regarding his winning strategy, Farrington stated: “I tried to use the length of his stride, he’s naturally quick across the ground.”
This marks Farrington’s second consecutive Toronto Qualifier victory, having won the same class the previous season. The pair previously won the 5* Grand Prix during Season 5’s Kentucky leg.
Daniel Bluman from Israel and Corbie V.V. claimed second place with a time of 42.82 seconds. Nina Mallevaey of France completed the podium with My Clementine, stopping the clock at 43.26 seconds.
The season continues with upcoming 5* Team Competition and 5* Grand Prix events in Toronto this week.
