About MLSJ

Major League Show Jumping: The World’s Best Horses and Riders, across North America since 2021.

From the official rules · League background

The Major League Show Jumping, “The League”, is organized to promote a 5* Jumping league in North America with some of the strongest organizers and venues. The vision behind the League is to elevate the level of show jumping in North America by adding CSI5* events. The League will run at CSI5* FEI events in Canada, Mexico, and United States with a team competition offered at each event.

The League reserves the right to add additional venues as backups, subject to FEI approval. All events included in the League must have the status of a CSI5*. Both indoor and outdoor events are eligible to be League events.

The League will host a final event (or events) where the team and individual season bonuses based on season standings will be awarded. The team final and individual final do not have to be on the same week. Teams and individuals must compete to receive bonus money earned. League reserves the right to change events on a year to year basis pending FEI approval.

How the league works

Teams

Teams can roster a minimum of four and a maximum of six athletes. An athlete can compete on one team only.

Team Competition

Every event holds a designated team competition over 1.50m obstacles with at least $100,000 USD in prize money.

Points

Base points 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for 1st to 8th: Qualifier ×1, Team Competition ×4, Grand Prix ×3. 9th to 12th also score: 1 point each in the Qualifier (8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-1-1-1) and 3 in the Grand Prix (24-21-18-15-12-9-6-3-3-3-3-3); the Team Competition pays 1st to 8th only.

The Final

Points at the Final are worth 1.5×.

Methodology

How we estimate prize money and stats

Prize money on this site is an estimate. We count CSI5* and CSI2* international classes worth at least US$25,000 at each MLSJ leg. Where per-place amounts are posted with the results we use them. Otherwise the class purse (from the published class name or the FEI final prize money) is shared among the placed riders on the FEI schedule in which the winner receives 33%, normalised over the paid places.

Amounts in other currencies are converted to US dollars at the European Central Bank reference rate for the class date. Figures can differ from what riders were actually paid.

Results, standings, schedules and rosters come from Equestrian Digital, the league's official results platform. Grand Prix statistics cover the MLSJ CSI5* Grand Prix from 2021 to the latest completed leg; Power Score and other ratings are calculated from those results.

Season standings use the official league points. Corrections: contact us.
