The final stretch of Season 5 brought two defining stops in Kentucky and Monterrey.
Across both events, the level of competition intensified as the championship approached its conclusion.
The MLSJ community has now selected the standout horses from each of these decisive legs:
- Kentucky Horse of the Week: Descartes SR
Descartes SR
Kentucky delivered one of the most competitive weekends of the season, marking the league’s return from the winter break and setting the tone for the final stretch.
Voted by the MLSJ community, Descartes SR stood out with a performance defined by composure, athleticism and consistency under pressure.
Ridden by Kent Farrington, the combination delivered an incredible Grand Prix victory in the horse’s first-ever 5* Grand Prix appearance, immediately establishing impact at a pivotal moment in the championship race.
The performance not only secured a major result in Leg 8, but also positioned the partnership as a key contender heading into Finals.
- Monterrey Horse of the Week: La Contessa
La Contessa
At the Finals in Monterrey, the level reached its peak.
With titles on the line and double points in play, every round carried maximum pressure.
La Contessa rose to the occasion with a performance defined by heart, power and scope earning her spot as horse of the week.
Ridden by Marilyn Little, the combination delivered when it mattered most, standing out in one of the strongest fields assembled this season.
Against the backdrop of the championship-deciding leg, La Contessa’s performance reflected the qualities required to compete at the highest level under Finals conditions.
A recognition across the final stretch
