When the 5* Grand Prix start list is released, it's easy to see it as just another order of go.

Performances in both the 5* Qualifier and the opening round of the Team Competition give riders the opportunity to earn a favourable position in Sunday's Grand Prix, with their strongest performance determining where they appear on the start list.
