Few athletes in the world of show jumping command attention like Kent Farrington
With unmatched consistency, determination, and a career built on resilience, he is once again on the brink of history.
In 2025 alone, Farrington has produced eight CSI5 Grand Prix victories across five venues: Thermal, WEF, Kentucky, Traverse City, and most recently Greenwich.
He has won three five-stars in the past three weeks, tied the *all-time record, set by himself in 2017, for most CSI5 GP wins in a single season (8)**, and currently holds the lead in the MLSJ Individual standings. His dominance has also cemented him as the most decorated MLSJ rider to date, with 10 podiums, including 4 wins, at the League’s highest level- the 5* grand Prix. Backing it all is a staggering 56% Top-10 rate at 1.60m over more than 350 starts — the standard of precision in the sport.
As a professional show jumper from the United States, Farrington has established himself among the most decorated riders in history
Born in Chicago in 1980, he began riding at just eight years old, learning at a small stable with carriage horses in the city. His junior career was marked by catch-riding, where he quickly gained recognition for excelling on horses he barely knew. By the age of 18, he had already won gold at the North American Young Riders International Competition, setting the stage for a remarkable career under the mentorship of two-time Olympian Leslie Howard.
Since then, Farrington has collected victories on the world’s biggest stages
His résumé includes the Washington International Equitation Medal, multiple national equitation titles, and later international triumphs such as the:
- 2011 Pan American Games team gold medal in Guadalajara. - The King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead. - Rolex Top Ten Final victory in 2015.
He also claimed:
- Silver at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. - Bronze at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games. - The Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Spruce Meadows in 2017.
From April 2017 to March 2018, he reigned as World No. 1 on the FEI Jumping Rankings, underscoring his dominance at the very peak of the sport.
Today, Farrington continues to compete at the highest level with horses such as Landon, Greya, Orafina, Toulayna, and Dagny, mounts that have each help carry him to CSI3*, CSI4*, and CSI5* successes.
As he heads into the next leg of MLSJ at the Highlands Cup this weekend, the question remains:
Can anyone slow down a rider this relentless?
