Tornado, an 11-year-old gelding by Diarado, came into the opening leg of MLSJ 2025 exactly as his name suggests — fast, powerful, and ready to make an impact. Picking up right where he left off, his first FEI class back from his summer European tour was the CSI5* Qualifier, and he delivered in style with a double-clear round. Coincidentally, his jump-off time in that class was only 0.06 seconds off his last start in Europe — also a double-clear — showing just how consistent and sharp he is across continents.
Last year, Tornado and Skylar Wireman tackled the world’s best at the FEI World Cup Finals in Riyadh. In 2024, Wireman piloted Tornado to a double-clear and fourth place at MLSJ Thunderbird before helping Helios claim the team win at MLSJ Toronto. With a track record of strong results at the Canadian stops on the tour, he’s a horse to keep an eye on when MLSJ returns to Toronto next week.
While his rider, Skylar Wireman, holds the title of highest-ranked U25 competitor in the league, Tornado is proving he’s just as much of a force in his own right — combining scope, speed, and a competitive edge that make him one to watch as the season unfolds.
