Cassio Rivetti delivers in the gold medal match to secure Team KPF’s first Team Competition victory of Season 6.

TRAVERSE CITY, MI — Major League Show Jumping Season 6 continued Friday at Flintfields Horse Park with the $200,000 5* Team Competition presented by ClipMyHorse.TV, where Team KPF came out on top after three rounds of competition. The Trelawny Trailblazers finished second, while defending Season 5 champions Maccabi United completed the podium in third.
Teams returned in reverse order of the standings following the opening leg in Toronto, putting the pressure on those looking to make up early ground in the Season 6 championship.
After a difficult opening leg in Toronto, Maccabi United arrived in Traverse City with something to prove. A textbook performance from all three riders produced a triple clear and secured the defending champions a place in Round 2.
Team KPF followed with Karl Cook (USA) stepping into the lineup as a substitute. Cook delivered a clear round before teammate Kent Farrington (USA) followed with another, helping KPF secure their place in Round 2.
The Trelawny Trailblazers continued the form that carried them to a runner up finish in Toronto, adding another triple clear to the board. Last to go, the current Season 6 leaders, the DIHP Roadrunners, answered with a triple clear of their own as Shane Sweetnam (IRL), Olivia Sweetnam (USA) and Erynn Ballard (CAN) all left the rails untouched.
With four teams remaining, Round 2 narrowed the field to the medal matches.
Farrington and Cook returned for Team KPF and delivered two more clear rounds, securing the team’s place in the battle for gold.
“No surprise, I’ve got two guys here that are super riders, so that makes the job easy,” said Farrington.
The Roadrunners entered the week looking to make it back to back after winning the opening Team Competition of Season 6 in Toronto. A rail for Ballard at the double, ended their bid for a second consecutive gold and sent the team into the bronze medal match.
Maccabi faced a similar fate. Thaisa Erwin (AUS) put a clear round on the board before Daniel Bluman (ISR) returned knowing another clear was needed to keep the team in contention for gold. With Erwin already clear, Bluman needed to match her result to keep Maccabi’s hopes of reaching the gold medal match alive. A rail at the double took that possibility off the table, and Bluman elected to retire.
The Trailblazers turned to MLSJ newcomer Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) alongside team veteran Natalie Dean (USA) in Round 2. Their efforts secured the final place in the gold medal match, where Charlotte Jacobs (USA) would anchor the team against Team KPF.
Before gold was decided, Maccabi and the Roadrunners returned to settle bronze under the Table C format.
Mark Bluman (ISR) and Ubiluc set the target for Maccabi, but a fault at the final fence added three seconds to their time and left an opening for Shane Sweetnam. Sweetnam entered with three seconds in hand, but even with Bluman’s added penalty, he could not find enough time to take over the lead. Maccabi United secured bronze, bouncing back from a difficult opening leg with their first Team Competition podium of Season 6.
The final showdown was between the Trailblazers and Team KPF.
“I have a lot of confidence in Cassio. He’s a great rider, he has tons of experience and I think he has a great horse,” said Farrington.
Jacobs was first to return, stopping the clock at 35.21 seconds and putting the target on the board for KPF. Cassio Rivetti (BRA) entered knowing exactly what was required and delivered, crossing the timers in 33.05 seconds to secure gold for Team KPF.
The victory gives KPF its first Team Competition win of Season 6 after finishing fourth in Toronto and adds an important result to the team’s early championship campaign.
Season 6 action continues Saturday with the $340,000 World Wide Technology 5* Grand Prix, where individual results will once again contribute to both the individual and team standings.
